Updated in 2022.

Each year The Family Place holds a Gingerbread Festival at Tracy Hall in Norwich.  Individuals and businesses build the gingerbread houses and other items for the silent auction. All proceeds support the mission of The Family Place.

A trip to the 16th Annual Gingerbread festival in Norwich, Vermont leads to an artful session of gingerbread house assembly at home.

As you walk in, you are immediately struck by the 80+ gloriously-decorated gingerbread structures hand-crafted by local individuals and businesses. Look at that church!

Gingerbread houses at the 16th Annual Gingerbread Festival hosted by The Family Place at Tracy Hall in Norwich, Vermont. December 1, 2018.

I worked in an office of many who crafted houses for this benefit. I recall their enthusiasm to make them, and how the community looks forward to this wonderful display, year after year.

After attending, I bought a simple gingerbread house kit for my daughter and I to build. I thought the festival would give us some context and inspiration for our own gingerbread art.

Here we are making ours at home. You can see our finished gingerbread house in another post I wrote about festive morning light.
