My first experiences with photography began with capturing flowers and birds in mom’s garden. I quickly moved on to photograph people and left the petals and feathers behind. As I gravitate back to nature and landscapes, I spend more time on trails and explore natural spots in the Upper Valley. I took an online workshop in June that centered on birds and wildlife. Beauty in Your Backyard is offered by Jessica Nelson through Click Photo School, if you are interested in knowing the specifics! I encountered only a few deer throughout the four weeks of this wildlife workshop. Sadly, I never saw any fox kits. Never got a peek at the elusive least bitterns behind Price Chopper in West Lebanon at Cranberry Pond. However, I did discover that I adore photographing birds.

The birds featured here were spotted at Dewey’s Pond in Quechee, Chaffee Wildlife Sanctuary in Lyme, Richmond Conservation Land in Orford, The Fells in Newbury, and right in my own backyard.

I’ve tried my best to identify each species. Please leave a comment if you have an update.

At the bottom of this post, you’ll find a couple artistic renderings of a kingbird and my favorite, the cedar waxwing.
